The Heron Instruments Sm.Oil interface meter is a compact oil/water interface meter. This unit is available in one tape length (20m) on a small hand held frame which means the device is compact and extremely portable for field use. The Interface meter is also come complete with a padded carry case for protection during transportation.
What is the oil water interface?
The oil / water interface level is distance between two liquids in the same tank, well or aquifer. The different density of two liquids means the lower density fluid, non-conductive products LNAPL (light non aqueous phase liquids) such as gasoline, benzene, toluene and other hydrocarbons will float on top of the conductive liquid (water) as this has a higher density. Denser products will tend to sink – DNAPL (Dense non aqueous phase liquids) such as chlorinated solvents, coal tar and extra heavy crude oils, creating a layer under the water.
Kynar jacketed, high tensile steel core tape is resistant to hydrocarbon, solvents and other harsh contaminants.
